We welcome you to this five-unit course with a brief history of the world relative to arts and culture and where we are now. What is the substance of value (objective/subjective) – to whom, for what? What are the essential and timeless issues facing us? How do we connect and interlock mission and value to be supportive, contingent and flexible?

Arts and Culture Strategy: Aims, Prospects, Obstacles, and Solutions This course is designed to provide an introduction to the theory of culture and arts strategy. It explores the nature of cultural institutions and their functions, the sources of cultural ideas and values, and the opportunities and challenges of cultural strategy. It also focuses on the role of arts and culture in society and in building democracies around the world. The course is an introduction to the theory of culture and arts strategy, which aims to create a more attractive environment for creating art and culture. It also aims to create a more active and engaged citizenry.
