Three things are clear about today’s music industry: The consumption of music is expanding at the greatest rate in history and from the most portals ever imagined, the cost of producing music is decreasing, and the number of artists creating and seeking to expose their work and develop careers through the Internet has increased dramatically. Whether you’re a music creator, consumer, or facilitator of this process, you’ll want to understand the history, underpinnings, and basics of the music business. Course author John Kellogg—administrator, educator, entertainment lawyer, performer, and radio and television personality—offers students the opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of the developing new music business, for now and into the future. Music Business Foundations This course will introduce students to the foundational elements of the music business. The course centers on three themes: music business theory, business models, and business models for emerging musicians. The course will also cover networking, business plans, and business strategies for instrumentalists, producers, engineers, and writers. Students who successfully complete the course will have an understanding of the three themes, and will have a firm foundation in the basics of the music business. No prior experience is required; all students should have some familiarity with the basics of the music business. The course provides an overview of the three stages of the music business life cycle: identifying a business opportunity, researching and analyzing the business opportunity, and launching. The course provides an overview of prevailing industry practice, including a full history of the compositional guidelines for the business, as well as the fundamentals of the music business, including business models and models, and their relationships. Foundations Forum Foundations Forum was the first exclusively heavy metal music industry convention, held annually from 1988−1997 in Los Angeles. The convention was set up by Concrete Marketing who had in January 1988 created the first industry trade magazine for the heavy metal world - Foundations. Realizing there was little or no attention or focus on this growing market, and having seen the far reaching distribution of the trade magazine, they decided to put together an annual meeting, bringing together key industry personnel, vendors and artists (and in later forums fans as well) offering advice on surviving the industry, discussing the changing climate of the scene and business, and allowing people to network.

Music Business Association The Music Business Association (Music Biz) (originally established as the National Association of Recording Merchandisers) is a United States not-for-profit trade association based in Marlton, New Jersey that seeks to advance and promote music commerce, whether physical, digital, mobile, or more. Established as the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) in 1958, its membership includes music retailers, distributors, and others involved in the sale of music and related merchandise.
Music Business Association The association holds an annual conference, titled Music Biz. Music Biz 2013 took place in Los Angeles, featuring nearly 120 speakers and presenters and drawing executives from both the physical and digital sides of the business. Music Biz 2014 took place at May 6 and 8, also in Los Angeles.

Univalent foundations A fundamental characteristic of the univalent foundations is that they, when combined with the Martin-Löf type theory, provide a practical system for formalization of modern mathematics. A considerable amount of mathematics has been formalized using this system and modern proof assistants such as Coq and Agda. The first such library called "Foundations" was created by Vladimir Voevodsky in 2010. Now Foundations is a part of a larger development with several authors called UniMath. Foundations also inspired other libraries of formalized mathematics, such as the HoTT Coq library and HoTT Agda library, that developed the univalent ideas in new directions.
