Course Introduction

Build a Game Using Unity 3D. Design and create your own game, and bring it to market, in five hands-on courses. Game Design and Development Specialization This is the fourth and last course in the specialization about learning how to develop video games. This course focuses on the topic of level design and development. We will learn the general concepts of game level design as well as specific topics for developing each of the four specialization courses. We will start by learning the general concepts of level design as well as the topics for developing the following specialization courses. We will then go into detail about designing levels using the UnityEngine and discuss the topics we’ll cover in more detail in later lessons. We’ll also discuss the topics we’ll cover in more detail in later lessons. This specialization is the last before the full program is designed and created for the Xbox 360 and PS3 GameCube. We'll be covering the topics and methods discussed in the Specialization course as well as the full program including level creation, level navigation, level loading, loading screens and achievements. Game design document A game design document (often abbreviated GDD) is a highly descriptive living design document of the design for a video game. A GDD is created and edited by the development team and it is primarily used in the video game industry to organize efforts within a development team. The document is created by the development team as result of collaboration between their designers, artists and programmers as a guiding vision which is used throughout the game development process. When a game is commissioned by a game publisher to the development team, the document must be created by the development team and it is often attached to the agreement between publisher and developer; the developer has to adhere to the GDD during game development process.
Video game development Game development, production, or design is a process that starts from an idea or concept. Often the idea is based on a modification of an existing game concept. The game idea may fall within one or several genres. Designers often experiment with different combinations of genres. Game designer usually produces initial game proposal document, that contains the concept, gameplay, feature list, setting and story, target audience, requirements and schedule, staff and budget estimates.
