About Course

The UI/UX Design Specialization brings a design-centric approach to user interface and user experience design, and offers practical, skill-based instruction centered around a visual communications perspective, rather than on one focused on marketing or programming alone. In this sequence of four courses, you will summarize and demonstrate all stages of the UI/UX development process, from user research to defining a project’s strategy, scope, and information architecture, to developing sitemaps and wireframes. You’ll learn current best practices and conventions in UX design and apply them to create effective and compelling screen-based experiences for websites or apps. User interface and user experience design is a high-demand field, but the skills and knowledge you will learn in this Specialization are applicable to a wide variety of careers, from marketing to web design to human-computer interaction. Learners enrolled in the UI/UX Design Specialization are eligible for an extended free trial (1 month) of a full product suite of UX tools from Optimal Workshop. UX UX refers to user experience, a person's behaviors, attitudes, and emotions about using a product, system, or service.
UI data binding UI data binding is a software design pattern to simplify development of GUI applications. UI data binding binds UI elements to an application domain model. Most frameworks employ the Observer pattern as the underlying binding mechanism. To work efficiently, UI data binding has to address input validation and data type mapping.
User experience design As with the fields mentioned above, user experience design is a highly multi-disciplinary field, incorporating aspects of psychology, anthropology, architecture, sociology, computer science, graphic design, industrial design, cognitive science, and business. Depending on the purpose of the product, UX may also involve content design disciplines such as communication design, instructional design, and game design. The subject matter of the content may also warrant collaboration with a subject-matter expert on planning the UX from various backgrounds in business, government, or private groups. More recently, content strategy has come to represent a sub-field of UX.
A/UX The final release of A/UX is version 3.1.1 of 1995. Apple abandoned the A/UX platform completely by 1996.
Interactive specialization According to the second, the Interactive Specialization (IS)
QA & UX Manager A QA & UX Manager work with both Quality Assurance (QA) and User Experience (UX) in relation to video game and software development. QA & UX Manager can work independently or in co-operation with other QA & UX Managers like in larger QA & UX teams with other QA & UX Managers and game testers. In the larger QA & UX teams there is usually a lead QA & UX Group Manager that works as the daily leader of this team of QA & UX Managers and game testers. QA & UX Manager also usually work very close with the project managers and the QA Programmer as part of video game development.
Process-centered design Although there are proven UI design methodologies (like the most popular "user-centered design", which helps design highly Usable Interfaces), PCD differentiates itself by precisely catering to business process intensive software which has not been the case with other UI design methodologies.
Flat design Flat design is a minimalist UI design genre, or design language, commonly used in graphical user interfaces (such as web applications and mobile apps), especially in such graphical materials as posters, arts, guide documents, publishing products.
PC-UX PC-UX was a NEC port of UNIX System III for their APC III and PC-9801 personal computer. It had extensive graphics capability. PC-UX and MS-DOS could reside on the same hard drive. It also had file transfer utilities that allowed files between PC-UX and MS-DOS. There was the PC-UX Softcard which allowed extremely high performance, reliability and memory utilization.
DG/UX DG/UX 1.00, released in March, 1985, was based on UNIX System V Release 2 with additions from 4.1BSD. By 1987, DG/UX 3.10 had been released, with 4.2BSD TCP/IP networking, NFS and the X Window System included. DG/UX 4.00, in 1988, was a comprehensive re-design of the system, based on System V Release 3, and supporting symmetric multiprocessing on the Eclipse MV. The 4.00 filesystem was based on the AOS/VS II filesystem and, using the logical disk facility, could span multiple disks. DG/UX 5.4, released around 1991, replaced the legacy Unix file buffer cache with unified, demand paged virtual memory management. Later versions were based on System V Release 4.
